How They Exited the Breeders’ Futurity
Brody’s Cause (Giant’s Causeway) came out of his GI Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity “great”, according to conditioner Dale Romans. The colt will train at Churchill Downs leading up to the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Oct. 31.
Runner-up Exaggerator (Curlin), who took the GI Saratoga Special over the summer, also came out of Saturday’s affair in good order. “He looks good today,” trainer Keith Desormeaux said Sunday morning. “So far so good. He has been here [at Keeneland] since the Saratoga Special and will stay here through the Breeders’ Cup. I know he wasn’t 100% , so his effort was awesome. He got sick after Saratoga and I didn’t drill him that hard leading into the race, as you can probably tell from his works. He’s exciting.”
Radar Racing’s Rated R Superstar (Kodiack Kowboy) “came back great,” according to Jeff Hiles, assistant to trainer Kenny McPeek.
Trainer Greg Burchell said fourth-place finisher Sticksstatelydude (First Dude) is a possible for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. “[He] came out of the race with a few scratches and we may still try to go to the Breeders’ Cup,” said Burchell. “If not, there is a stakes at Aqueduct the first of November and then the [GII Kentucky] Jockey Club at Churchill the end of November.”
